"We’ve been using this for approximately a year. Pro-Vas has simplified the procedure since less dissection is needed and much less manipulation of the scrotum is required. Patient acceptance has been exceptional."
"To date we’ve performed the Pro-Vas occlusion procedure on approximately 36 patients and all have had zero sperm counts at 8-weeks. We’ve noticed that patients have had remarkably less discomfort during the procedure. The procedure is rapid. We’ve done the procedure in as little as 4 minutes excluding prep time. We’ve noticed that post-operatively patients do not have any pain at the site of the vasectomy unlike traditional vasectomy which sometimes is associated with granuloma."
"I have performed several hundred reversal procedures and one of the problems with reversing a vasectomy can occur when the distance between the two cut ends is large, which can happen when a large segment was removed during the original vasectomy or due to retraction. In cases like this in order to rejoin the ends, it can become necessary to draw the vas tight putting traction on the testicle. Sometimes the testicle will actually be raised. With Pro-Vas, however, finding the clip should be much easier and faster than locating the ends of the severed vas. Even after cutting the clip out, there will be much more tissue available for reanastomosis that one would have with a traditional vasectomy patient. It would be reasonable to expect a Pro-Vas reversal to not only easier but also much quicker, perhaps by as much as an hour."
"Patients are amazed at the speed of the procedure. And the next thing they realize is that there is no discomfort post-operatively. I have been impressed that there has not been any induration or granuloma present. Patients have been quite satisfied that there has not been any discomfort post-op – they use less pain medication."
